Some good friends paved an opportunity for me to visit Dalupiri Island where the town of San Antonio, Northern Samar exclusively owns the address. Not everyone got this opportunity though, especially if you are naughty. Wink! (Note: this is a not so recent travel) I spent a night in Haven of Fun beach resort, and I mean clean fun (you are overreacting!). I was away from home, alone in a beach (true!), under the expanse of stars in a darkened sky. No TV, no one in sight. I decided to meditate on God’s goodness that night (I am angelic, if you haven’t observed) in the balkonahe of the cottage I stayed, while sipping the soup of hot fresh fish tinola served to me for dinner. Darkness of the night made me listen to the rhythm of waves as they break along the shore. This was my music for the night. I had my share of a busy day on that day, and most of my life I was busy running a certain race, my aloneness in the island had brought me more good than loneliness. This was what the island had afforded me for two days – quiet retrospection and memories of youthfulness, frolics, and a certain peace of mind. And of all the places I’ve been to (except for the routine visits to the bathroom), this was the place that caught me in deep thinking. Are you planning for a quiet vacation this 2013? Are you wanting a space for yourself? This could be the place. Take the boat from the town of Victoria, mainland Northern Samar and enjoy the 15-minute ride to San Antonio. (Victoria can be reached from Tacloban City to Catarman via Allen by Grandtours. Terminal is located near Tacloban Post Office. I think Grandtours van leaves Tacloban for Calbayog every hour.)
