sunrise - bukangliwayway
Perhaps thousands of pictures have already been posted on sunrise, mine to add a hundred to them all. Much have been said, a million have been awed. What’s in sunrise, really? Or what’s a sunrise?
See this. The average time the sun rises in some parts of the world is about 6:24 in the morning. Sunrise is the time when the upper limb of the sun appears above the horizon as a result of the diurnal rotation of the earth (according to Merriam-Webster). When the geometric zenith distance of center of the Sun is 90.8333 degrees, sunrise occurs. That is, the center of the Sun is geometrically 50 arcminutes below a horizontal plane. ANO DAW?!!!
I don’t look at sunrise in that perspective. I don’t calculate the time and altitude and distance when the sun rises on a particular day. I just open my eyes, wipe my morning glory (eye crus)t, and voila! see colors bursting up in the sky. If I am in the mood, take my camera and click for a picture of sunrise – just like what I did with these sunrises everywhere in the Philippines. Sometimes, we need to forget that “geometrically 50 arcminutes below a horizontal plane” Just drop your jaw and don’t lose the wonder.
